What’s really cool is that almost two-thirds of this mix is a straight shot with no cuts! Did Lady Gaga take inspiration from ELO? From the first time I heard Bad Romance, I could totally feel some vibes of a familiar song from the past. It didn’t take me long to come to grasps that Gaga made a tribute to ELO’s Don’t Bring Me Down! These are too eerily similar to be a coincidence.

Bad Romance: 119 BPM. Don’t Bring Me Down: 115 BPM. I brought these together at 116.5 BPM. Mixing this was a beast! It took me roughly 6 hours over four days to choreograph the entire mashup to my liking. I even included a 3rd track that I tossed in very sparingly, that you can totally hear! It’s the “Ohh, Uh, Oh” vocal bit from the ELO track.

I cut out roughly 30-45 seconds from the Gaga track, as I felt going full length was just too much! I had strong thoughts of making it even shorter, but wow, so many transitions go so well, so I don’t think you’ll get burnt out listening to this one. While the guitars are a bit relentless, as is Gaga’s repeated hooks and rugged vocals, I’m confident that the transitions and breakdowns are gonna keep you groovin’!

What surprised me is that there isn’t already a viral version of this mix by another comrade. After some deep searching, I did find about half-a-dozen attempts published, but many of them are pretty rough cuts in my opinion, either off tempo or out of sync. And their YouTube video views only range from a few hundred to one as high as 2,700. While some of those were true mashups, switching between both lyrics of the two songs, mine only contains one songs vocals. Hey! I’ll call myself out and not classify this as a true mashup, but instead a remix.

These two songs are 30 years apart! I hope you all enjoy it! Share with that person who you know is gonna love it. ☮️
